Hidden spaces senses stories

Hidden has been exhibited at Genova BeDesign Week 2023, 24-28 may 2023
Hidden was created to narrate the hidden territory of Southern Piedmont, in particular the area in the province of Cuneo between the Alta Langa and the Stura Valley.  The metaproject phase envisaged research and the subsequent development of a functional storytelling to valorise a rich and often uncontaminated territory, hidden even from the eyes of its own inhabitants.
Three itineraries and three natural elements were identified: Pietra di Langa, Fresh Water and Lavender; these gave rise to a line of wall tiles that encapsulate the creative and expressive energy of the materials, colours and sensations that this land offers.

Hidden Tiles was born after a long design process with the aim of bringing the materiality of the land into rooms. The result is the fruit of long experimentation with colour and with the elements present in the Piedmontese territory.
The textures of Hidden Tiles were generated by the contact between the three natural elements and ceramics.
The Pietra di Langa, quarried in the area near Cortemilia, was superimposed and pressed on the ceramic material. The lavender flowers cut unique grooves on the tile and evoke the intense, fresh scents of the Piedmontese fields. Colour plays an important role as it accentuates the material folds and allows the visual nuances of the area to be brought into the home. In a visual-centric world, touch becomes an additional medium through which to characterise the product and evoke further memories.
